History of Mount Zion Lodge #9
January 8, 1810: Chartered by the Grand Lodge of Ohio as Mt. Zion #7, and instituted in Clinton, Ohio. Samuel H. Smith served as the first Worshipful Master.
January 9, 1812: Mt. Zion #7 mistakenly renumbered Mt. Zion #9 in Grand Lodge records.
May 23, 1814: First Masonic funeral held in Knox County for Bro. Richard Fishback.
March 7, 1817: Meeting place changed from Clinton to Mount Vernon. Meetings held in court house.
June 23, 1819: Mount Zion #9 moved to newly built meeting place on North Mulberry Street.
January, 1824: Grand Lodge officially re-numbered Mt. Zion as Lodge #9.
July 4, 1876: Mt. Zion #9 ceremoniously laid cornerstone of monument to Knox County's citizen-soldiers on Public Square.
April 21, 1892: Present site of Mt. Zion #9's lodge dedicated.
August 28, 1913: Mt. Zion #9 ceremoniously laid cornerstone of Knox County Jail (Chestnut Street).
August 26, 1923: More than 400 Masons attended a special memorial service honoring the late Bro. Warren G. Harding, 29th President of the United States.
Memorial Day, 1929: First "Sunrise Raising" conducted.
December 23, 1937: An early morning fire was discovered in the Lodge's basement. Five hours later, the flames were extinguished. Damages came to more than $13,000.
1966: Mt. Zion Lodge #9 hosted Bloomfield Lodge #422 and Danville Lodge #546 for its first triple inspection.
June 22, 1985: Mt. Zion Lodge #9 celebrated its 175th year by holding a special reconsecration ceremony, which was attended by the Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Ohio.

The officers of Mt. Zion # 9 are elected by the vote of the members of the lodge in November, to serve in their positions for the ensuing masonic year.
Each officer, no matter what position they hold or how much masonic experience they have, is committed to the highest ideals of the fraternity.
